what are your favorite stories/novels in Arabic? I have been searching for some materials to read but unfortunately they are either too hard or too easy for me.

You can try the novels of Dr. Ahmed Khaled Tawfiq, such as يوتوبيا or شآبيب. they were small and entertaining novels for me.
You can always let me know if you have any parts that you don’t understand if you choose to read any of them. 🙂

Mary, you can also check out the رجل المستحيل illustrated series…. basically spy novels …. they have a lot of audio books in Arabic too for free on youtube…. i like audio books better for learning purposes… if you can get both, a written copy and audio, that might help. I’ve only gotten through a few non-religious books in Arabic because I often get exhausted from reading something in another language…in fact, i get exhausted from reading stuff in English easily (and it is my first language).

I mostly read Islamic literature in Arabic which is definitely hard for my level.

The first two have English translations, which I think is a helpful tool to push yourself to read something a bit more challenging as you can check your comprehension and then re-read paragraphs with better understanding.
