The Egyptian Arabic Readers series aims to provide learners with much-needed exposure to authentic language. The fifteen books in the series are at a similar level (B1-B2) and can be read in any order. The stories are a fun and flexible tool for building vocabulary, improving language skills, and developing overall fluency.
The main text is presented on even-numbered pages with tashkeel (diacritics) to aid in reading, while parallel English translations on odd-numbered pages are there to help you better understand new words and idioms. A second version of the text is given at the back of the book, without the distraction of tashkeel and translations, for those who are up to the challenge.

This tiny book is aimed at the B1-B2 level learners and is easy to understand if you’re already at that level, but it also introduce at lot of new useful and important Vocab that one most probably haven’t encountered in any coursebooks. The story in itself is fast paced and action filled, who doesn’t love a good old gooey mummy-story ?
On the Lingualism website you can find the audio for the book which is read at a slow pace which I really liked, as it made it easy to pay attention the text and listen to the correct pronunciation at the same time.
All in all a good product, I just wished that the book was a tiny bit longer and that it contained a vocabulary list. I used this book together with my teacher, even though the English translation of the story is included in the book, but I wanted to make sure that I picked up the idioms and expressions and didn’t miss out on anything. This is why I went through the arabic text with my teacher as I would never have known that for example this is an expression commonly used in Egypt as there’s no vocabulary list in the book “Anta 3ala ard mish ardak” you are on a ground that is not your ground, which Egyptians say about someone who doesn’t belong with a group of people. Such valuable information should have been included. Sometimes expressions are explained but this is scarce throughout the book.
