The Modern Standard Arabic Readers series aims to provide learners with much-needed exposure to authentic language. The thirty books in the series are at a similar level (B1-B2) and can be read in any order. The stories are a fun and flexible tool for building vocabulary, improving language skills, and developing overall fluency.

The main text is presented on even-numbered pages with tashkeel (diacritics) to aid in reading, while parallel English translations on odd-numbered pages are there to help you better understand new words and idioms. A second version of the text is given at the back of the book, without the distraction of tashkeel and translations, for those who are up to the challenge.

Lovely story. I learned from the first page that the book was originally written in ECA, and it was translated into MSA. Are you planning to publish an ECA version of the book, too?
Anyhow, I have seen a great independent movie Arranged (2007) with Zoe Lister-Jones and Francis Benhamou. Both the book and the movie have similar positive attitude towards arranged marriage. This booklet is an excellent reading after watching this movie.

I’m glad you liked it! Yes, this book and others in the series were originally published in Egyptian Arabic and are available here.

This story is not very difficult to read and gives an interesting inside view on an Egyptian girl’s thoughts and emotions when she is introduced to her future husband.
