Use Anki’s SRS (spaced repetition system) to pre-study the vocabulary from the book Mido in Modern Standard Arabic. Anki is a free desktop software program that intelligently schedules items to be reviewed at the most efficient time possible.
IT’S EASY! If you don’t already have Anki, visit the Anki website and download the free desktop program. Once Anki is installed, simply click on the file for the deck you have purchased. It will automatically import into Anki. Open Anki and you will see the deck ready for study.
The 1,460 flashcards are meant to be used as a study tool in conjunction with the book Mido in Modern Standard Arabic. The deck includes reverse-cards, bringing the actual total number of cards to more than 2,900. These reverse-cards show the English translation first, forcing you to see how well you can recall the Arabic. See the sample images to get a better understanding of the cards’ layouts.
The default order of the deck is the order of appearance of the vocabulary in the book. You can focus on the vocabulary for a specific chapter by creating a custom study session and choosing the corresponding tag (Ch1 for chapter 1, for example). When you’ve finished studying your custom study deck, you can delete it. The cards will remain in the main deck and Anki will remember that you have studied them and bring them up for review later.
The default setting on Anki is to introduce 20 new cards per day. If you want to change the daily new-card limit, you can do so by going into settings → options (next to the deck’s name).
Press r to repeat a card’s audio. You can record your voice (shft+V) and replay it (v) to compare your pronunciation. For any other questions regarding the use of the Anki program, please refer to the documentation on the Anki site.
