Note: These flashcards contain the Lebanese Arabic words and phrases from the book Arabic vs. Arabic: A Dialect Sampler .

Use Anki’s SRS (spaced repetition system) to study Lebanese Colloquial Arabic, while improving your listening and reading skills and overall fluency. Anki is a free desktop software program that intelligently schedules items to be reviewed at the most efficient time possible.

IT’S EASY! If you don’t already have Anki, visit the Anki website and download the free desktop program. Once Anki is installed, simply click on your purchased file for this product. It will automatically import into Anki. Open Anki and you will see the deck ready for study.

The 300+ flashcards are meant to be used as a study tool in conjunction with the book Arabic vs. Arabic: A Dialect Sampler. There is one flashcard for each of the Lebanese Arabic words or phrases. The deck includes reverse-cards, bringing the actual total number of cards to more than 600. These reverse-cards show the English translation first, forcing you to see how well you can recall the Arabic.

The default setting on Anki is to introduce 20 new cards per day. If you want to change the daily new-card limit, you can do so by going into settings → options (next to the deck’s name). You can also choose whether to study the cards in order or in random order. If you prefer to focus on specific cards, search and add a custom tag. You can then create a “custom study deck”. Open the main deck and then click on “custom study” (at the bottom) → study by card state or tag → choose tags. When you’ve finished studying your custom study deck, you can delete it. The cards will remain in the main deck and Anki will remember that you have studied them and bring them up for review later.

Press r to repeat a card’s audio. You can record your voice (shft+V) and replay it (v) to compare your pronunciation. For any other questions regarding the use of the Anki program, please refer to the documentation on the Anki site.
