Bought it yesterday and finished my first read-through. This is exactly what I was looking for! Being able to do extensive reading to help me improve my Shami is something that I have been desperately waiting for.
It has been really encouraging to be able the entire text without tashkeel or translation and understand the story. I will now work through the material in more depth.
It is a nice story about a realistic situation. Perfect for the adult learner!

I have been using these books (both the Egyptian and Levantine series) to improve my listening comprehension of spoken dialect. I have been studying the text, then shadowing the audio recordings repeatedly until I can do it without mistakes. After a few months of doing this practice daily, my listening comprehension has improved by leaps and bounds, even in dialects besides Egyptian and Levantine! I can’t say that I am now native level, but I can follow the story while watching movies and tv shows, which I have never been able to do before without subtitles. These stories are the perfect length and read at the perfect pace for this type of practice. I highly recommend them!!
