Spanish Voices is a two-part series designed to provide learners with an opportunity to hear and study authentic Spanish as it is spoken by native speakers from around Latin America and Spain. Unlike the scripted materials read by voice actors used in many course books, Spanish Voices offers dozens of audio essays spoken naturally and off-the-cuff. The materials in the books are designed to help you improve your listening skills and expand your vocabulary in Spanish. MP3s can be downloaded for free below. You can also find interactive flashcards, quizzes, and games below.
Topics include: self-introductions, childhood memories, daily routines, my hometown, vacations, cultural topics, and social issues.
Each segment consists of:
- True or False and Multiple Choice exercises to sharpen your listening skills and increase how much you can understand, whatever your level.
- Vocabulary and Translation exercises to help you expand your vocabulary and improve your understanding of Spanish collocations and grammar.
- In-chapter answers to the exercises (no having to flip back and forth to the back of the book).
- Verbatim transcripts of the audio with side-by-side English translations.
- Lined sections for note-taking and recording new vocabulary.

This book is so helpful. I’m an intermediate student and listening comprehension is really tough for me. Hearing a wide variety of native speakers is priceless. Using the book along with the website resources has given my Spanish understanding a huge boost. I can’t wait for the second book to come out!

Spanish Voices I has been a good addition to my intermediate Spanish class. It is interesting to hear spoken Spanish from different countries. I do feel that my ability to listen and understand Spanish is improving. I hope the second volume will be published soon as my class will finish the first in fairly soon.

My class is using Spanish Voices 1. It has been very useful in many ways.
First, it gives us listening practice from several different countries, which has been great for me, since when I started, I could hardly discern one word from the next, especially when it is spoken fast. We are about halfway through the book, and already, I am able to hear the rhythm and flow of the spoken language much better.
Second, there are word lists and matching exercises to help cement both frequently used words and phrases, and idiomatic expressions.
Third, I really appreciate the Translate Exercise, as it gives me practice with using prepositions, tenses, pronouns and other grammatical features that often trip me up.
I also like the fact that I was able to download the .mp3 files at no additional cost, so I don’t have to wait for class to hear them, but can listen at any time.
Thank you for this excellent book. We have used books from other sites and this one is by far the most relevant. I hope you are able to publish your Spanish Voices 2 in the near future.

Yes, this book challenges me, but I have gained so much from it. The Spanish narrators speak with different accents and at different rates of speed. There’s a free listening download and the book has a transcript as well as translation and vocabulary exercises. I’m part of a class, but there are excellent directions for self study and answers so you can check your work. Using this well written book has definitely improved my listening ability. This is the best listening material we have used as a class. I’ve also used other books for self study and I find this book gives me the best listening experience because it encourages use of visual and auditory skills. Then it gives me relevant pen and pencil exercises. It all makes good education sense.
I’m looking forward to volume 2. I’m also encouraging you to create volume 3.
