FAQs

Products & Formats

PDF eBooks

Is accompanying audio included/free when I buy a PDF eBook?
Yes! Audio files are always free to download from the product pages on our website—whether you purchase the paperback or the PDF eBook. Please note that the audio files are not bundled together with your purchased PDF. You need to download them from the corresponding eBook's product page.

Are the PDF eBooks searchable or OCR-enabled?

The PDFs are searchable in English. Arabic text with diacritics may not copy or search cleanly, so the PDFs are best used as static reading materials. Please note that the content of our eBooks is not intended to be extracted or reused in other formats.

My PDF file won’t open or seems corrupted.
Please try re-downloading the file. If issues persist, contact us and we’ll email you a fresh copy.

Are the eBooks interactive?
Our PDF eBooks are mostly static, as they are replicas of our paperback books. However, they do include interactive elements such as clickable bookmarks for the table of contents to help with navigation. Unlike the print versions, the PDFs may contain color. Please note that features may vary slightly depending on when the book was published.

Can I read your PDF eBooks on my Kindle or e-reader?
It depends on your device. Kindle Fire and most tablets support PDFs with no issues. However, Kindle Paperwhite and similar e-ink devices may not display PDFs properly or support interactive features. For the best experience, we recommend using a tablet, computer, or phone.

If I buy a PDF eBook now and it gets updated later, do I get the new version?
Yes! If we update an eBook (to fix typos, formatting, or other improvements), you can always download the latest version from your Account Page at no extra cost.

Anki Flashcards

What is Anki?
Anki is a free flashcard app that uses spaced repetition to help you memorize vocabulary more efficiently and retain it long-term. It’s especially effective for language learning. You can download the official Anki app for your computer or mobile device at apps.ankiweb.net.

Does the PDF eBook include the Anki deck?
No, Anki decks are sold separately.

I bought an Anki deck but can’t import it. What should I do?
Make sure you’re using the original Anki app from apps.ankiweb.net, not AnkiApp, which is unrelated and incompatible with our decks.

Do I need to download anything to use the Anki decks from Lingualism?
Yes. Our flashcards are designed to be used with the official Anki program, which you need to install separately. The decks you purchase from Lingualism.com are files that you import into the Anki app. You can download the Anki software here: apps.ankiweb.net

Note: Please avoid “AnkiApp”—it’s a different app and is not compatible with our decks.

Where can I learn how to use Anki and get the most out of my decks?
We’ve put together a hub with tutorials and helpful articles specifically for Lingualism customers. Visit our Anki Hub to learn how to install Anki, import your deck, and study effectively using spaced repetition.

Audio

Where can I find the accompanying audio?
You can find the audio on the product page of the corresponding eBook. Just scroll down to the Audio Download section, where you’ll be able to stream or download the files for free.

Is the accompanying audio free?
Yes, the accompanying audio is free to download or stream from the corresponding eBook’s product page—even if you haven’t purchased the eBook.

What is the format of the audio tracks?
Audio tracks are provided in MP3 format and are usually available as a ZIP file for easy downloading. You can also stream the tracks directly from the product page or on our YouTube channel.

What is Premium Audio?
Premium Audio is a separate product that offers extended or enhanced audio content, such as slower versions, translations, or additional recordings. Unlike the standard audio (which is free), Premium Audio must be purchased separately.

Are transcripts included with the audio?
The audio recordings are free to download and correspond to the texts in our PDF eBooks. To read along with the recordings, simply refer to the matching eBook, which includes the full transcripts.

Paperback Books

Can I buy paperback (print/physical) books from Lingualism.com?
No, paperback books are not sold directly through Lingualism.com. They are available for purchase on Amazon. For your convenience, links to Amazon are provided on each eBook's product page.

Where can I buy Lingualism paperback books?

Do paperback book purchases on Amazon include the PDF eBook?

Orders & Account Help

Orders

I accidentally made a duplicate purchase. Can I get a refund?
Yes, we’ll be happy to issue a refund for accidental duplicate purchases. Just contact us with your order details.

Can I get a refund on a digital product?
We generally cannot offer refunds on digital products once they’ve been downloaded, as they can’t be returned. If you’re unsure whether a product is right for you, we encourage you to view the preview images or download the free sample provided on the product page.

I accidentally bought the wrong product. Can I exchange it?
Please contact us as soon as possible. If the file hasn’t been downloaded yet, we may be able to help with an exchange or store credit. Unfortunately, once a digital product has been downloaded, it is not eligible for return or exchange.

My payment went through, but I didn’t get any download links. What should I do?
We no longer send download links by email. Once your order is complete, you can download your files directly from the order confirmation page or by logging into your account. To access your account, click the circle with your initial in the top right corner of the screen, then choose Orders. Click Access Digital Content next to your order to download your files. If you still can’t access them, please contact us and we’ll help.

Can I purchase a product as a gift for someone else?
Yes! You can send a virtual gift card for $10, $25, $50, or $100. You can include a personal message and even choose the delivery date. The recipient can use the gift card balance on one or several purchases until the full amount has been spent. Click here to go to the gift card page.

I entered the wrong email address when I ordered. How can I fix it?
No problem! Just contact us and provide the correct email address. We’ll update your account so you can log in and access your order history.

I ordered a book but haven’t received a delivery—what’s going on?
Orders placed on Lingualism.com are for digital products only, such as PDF eBooks and Anki decks. These are available for instant download once your order is complete and can always be accessed later through your account. Nothing is shipped.

If you were expecting a physical book, you may have meant to order from Amazon, where our paperback editions are available. Each product page on our site includes a link to the corresponding Amazon listing.

You’re welcome to download your digital files at any time (limit 5 downloads). If you haven’t downloaded the files yet and let us know within a reasonable time, we may be able to issue a refund.

Can I update or cancel my order?
We can usually help if your files haven’t been downloaded yet. Contact us as soon as possible and we’ll do our best to assist you.

How can I pay for my order?
We accept payments by credit card (securely processed through Shopify Payments) and PayPal. You can also use express checkout options such as Amazon Pay, Apple Pay, or Google Pay when available.

Are my payments secure?
Yes! All transactions are protected with bank-level encryption and security. We use Shopify's secure payment system, which is PCI compliant and trusted by millions of businesses worldwide. Your payment information is never stored on our site and is processed through secure, encrypted channels.

My past orders aren't showing in my account. Why?
Orders placed before January 2020 or under a different email address may not appear in your current account. Contact us to link missing orders to your account.

My PayPal payment says "pending"—why hasn't my order been processed yet?
Sometimes PayPal places a temporary hold on transactions for various reasons, such as certain keywords in the order (e.g., “Syrian” or "Egypt") or routine security checks. These holds are usually resolved within 24 hours or less. Once the payment clears, your order will be processed automatically, and you’ll receive an order confirmation email.

If it’s been more than 24 hours and your order still hasn’t gone through, please contact us and we’ll look into it for you.

Downloading & Accessing Files

Where can I find my downloads after purchasing?
Once your order is complete, you can download your files directly from the order confirmation page or from your account. To access them later, click the circle with your initial in the top right corner of the screen, choose Orders, then click Access Digital Content next to your order.

Why won’t my PDF open after downloading?
If you see an error message or the file won’t open, it may have been corrupted during download. Please try downloading it again. Some products come as a ZIP file containing multiple files (e.g., the PDF and audio), which must be unzipped or decompressed before use.

I can’t find the download email—what should I do?
We no longer send download links by email. Once your order is complete, your files are available right away on the order confirmation page and in your account. To access them later, click the circle with your initial in the top right corner of the screen, choose Orders, then click Access Digital Content next to your order.

Do I need special software to open the ZIP files?
ZIP files are compressed folders that contain multiple files. Most computers, tablets, and phones can open them automatically, but if your device doesn’t, you may need to install a free file extraction app such as WinZip (Windows), The Unarchiver (Mac), or ZArchiver (Android).

How long will I have access to my downloads?
Each file can be downloaded up to five times from your account. To avoid using multiple downloads unnecessarily, please wait for the file to fully download before clicking again.

Be sure to save your files securely for future use—for example, on your computer’s hard drive, an external drive, or a cloud service. You’re responsible for keeping your own backup copies.

If this policy changes in the future, we’ll notify customers in advance and provide time to download any remaining files.

I get an error when I click the download link in the email. What should I do?
If you’re trying to download from an old confirmation email, those links are no longer active. We’ve updated our system, and downloads are now managed directly through your account.

Please log into your account at Lingualism.com, go to Orders, and click Access Digital Content next to your order to download your files. Each file can be downloaded up to five times, so avoid clicking repeatedly—wait for the download to start before trying again.

If you still can’t access your files, please contact us and we’ll help.

I bought an Anki deck but can’t import it. What should I do?
Make sure you’re using the original Anki app from apps.ankiweb.net, not AnkiApp, which is unrelated and incompatible with our decks.

Accounts and Sign-In

How do I create an account?
You don’t need to create an account manually. An account is automatically created for you when you place your first order or when you join our mailing list. You can also create one anytime by signing in with your email address—no password required.

Do I need an account to access the audio files?
No. All audio files are freely available to stream or download directly from the product pages. You don’t need an account or to log in to access them.

How do I sign in?
We use a passwordless login system for your convenience. Simply enter your email address, and we’ll send you a secure one-time code. Enter that code to access your account—no password needed! This makes signing in faster and more secure.

I can’t log in or didn’t receive my login email. What should I do?
First, check your spam or junk folder in case the email was filtered. If you still don’t see it, please contact us and we’ll help you gain access to your account.

I used to have an account on the old website. What happened to it?
We’ve moved to a new system with passwordless login. If you had an account on our previous website, you can still access your purchases—just sign in using the same email address you used before, and you’ll receive a one-time code to log in. Old passwords are no longer used.

I never created an account—how do I log in to access my purchases?
If you’ve placed an order in the past, an account was automatically created for you. Just sign in with the same email address you used at checkout, and we’ll send you a one-time code to access your account.

Do I need to create an account before I order?
No. One will be created for you automatically during checkout using the email address you provide.

Licensing & Institutional Use

Can I share Lingualism eBooks with my tutor, classmates, or others?
No. Our eBooks are licensed for personal use only. Each person who uses the material—whether a tutor, student, or colleague—must purchase their own copy. We appreciate your respect for this policy and for supporting independent publishing.

Can I print a copy of a Lingualism PDF eBook?
Yes, you are allowed to print one personal copy of any eBook you’ve purchased. If your print shop requests permission, contact us and we’ll provide a printable authorization.

How can my school or institution place a bulk order?
We don’t handle institutional or bulk orders directly. Instead, paperback books are available on Amazon, which may support bulk or institutional purchasing. Our website is for individual digital purchases only.

Do you offer desk copies or exam/review copies for instructors?
No, we do not provide complimentary desk copies. All of our materials are sold individually. However, sample PDFs are available on most product pages to help you evaluate a resource before purchasing.

Choosing & Using Materials

Levels

How do I know which book or level is right for me?
Each product page includes preview images and, in most cases, a downloadable sample PDF so you can explore a portion of the material before purchasing. We also list the suggested CEFR level (e.g., A1, B2) on each product page to help guide your choice.

What are CEFR Levels (A1, A2, B1, B2)?
The CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) is a system for measuring language proficiency. Here’s what the levels mean:

  • A1 (Beginner):
You can understand and use basic everyday expressions and phrases. You can introduce yourself, ask and answer simple questions, and interact in a very basic way if the other person speaks slowly and clearly.
  • A2 (Elementary):
You can understand frequently used expressions related to everyday topics (e.g., personal information, shopping, work). You can communicate in simple and routine tasks that require a direct exchange of information.
  • B1 (Intermediate):
You can understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar topics. You can handle most situations while traveling, produce simple connected text, and describe experiences and events.
  • B2 (Upper Intermediate):
You can understand the main ideas of complex texts on both concrete and abstract topics. You can interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity, and express yourself clearly and in detail on a range of subjects.

For more details, see the Wikipedia article on CEFR.

Do your books follow a structured curriculum?
No. Each book is designed to stand on its own and focus on a particular skill or theme. You can choose materials based on your goals and level rather than following a fixed course.

Are Lingualism materials suitable for beginners?
We offer some materials at the A1 and A2 levels for beginners. However, most of our content is designed for intermediate learners (B1/B2). Our focus is on providing high-quality materials to supplement your learning—especially if you’re already studying Arabic through a course, tutor, or other method and want engaging resources to support and expand your skills.

Does Lingualism offer courses?
No, we don’t offer full language courses. Instead, we focus on supplemental materials that help you practice reading, listening, vocabulary, and grammar. Our books and resources are ideal for learners who are already studying Arabic and want engaging tools to support their learning.

Using Lingualism Materials

What’s the best way to use the PDF eBooks and audio together?
We recommend viewing the PDF eBook on a larger screen—like a tablet or computer—while listening to the audio on your phone. This setup makes it easy to pause, rewind, or fast-forward the audio while you follow along with the text.

Can I use your materials on my phone?
Yes, all of our PDF eBooks and audio files are mobile-friendly. However, for the best reading experience, we suggest using a larger screen like a tablet or laptop.

Do I need an internet connection to use the materials?
Once you download the PDF and audio files, you can use them offline anytime.

Do I need to follow a specific order when using your materials?
No. Our products are modular—you can choose what interests you most or what fits your learning goals. There’s no set sequence required.

Can I print the PDF eBooks?
Yes, you’re welcome to print one personal copy for your own use. If your print shop requires permission, contact us and we’ll be happy to provide it.

Can I use Lingualism materials with my tutor?
Yes! Many learners use our materials alongside private or online tutoring. Just keep in mind that our PDF eBooks are licensed for individual use, so if your tutor needs a copy, they’ll need to purchase their own.
