Refund policy

Your legal rights

This policy applies to purchases from Lingualism.com. It does not limit any cancellation rights or remedies required by applicable law, including rights relating to faulty, missing, inaccessible, or misdescribed products or access. No request deadline in our policies shortens a mandatory legal period.

Accidental duplicate purchases

We issue refunds for accidental duplicate purchases of the same product, including downloadable products and Interactive Editions. Please contact us with your order details.

Downloadable products

Downloadable products include PDF eBooks, Anki flashcards, Premium Audio, and other files listed in your order. We generally do not offer voluntary change-of-mind refunds after a product has been downloaded. If you purchased the wrong product and have not downloaded it, please contact us promptly. We may be able to help with an exchange, store credit, or a refund, depending on the circumstances. This discretionary assistance does not replace any cancellation right or remedy required by law.

If a file is missing, faulty, or inaccessible, we will investigate and provide the appropriate remedy, including a refund where required. Your statutory cancellation and remedy rights remain unaffected.

Please download and back up your files. Any stated download limit applies to delivery of files, not to the number of times you can use a downloaded file or open an Interactive Edition. Extra download links are not issued automatically; contact us if you need help.

Interactive Editions

Please explore the available free preview and read the product description before purchasing an Interactive Edition. Except where required by applicable law or expressly provided in this policy, purchases are final. We do not offer refunds simply because you change your mind, decide the edition is not suitable for your preferences or study needs, or do not use it. This does not affect your rights if the product is faulty, inaccessible, or materially different from its description, or your rights under our additional first-year closure protection.

If you cannot access a purchased edition, or a material feature does not work as described, please contact us. We will investigate and take reasonable steps to restore the promised access or provide another appropriate remedy required by law.

Technical problems and service availability

We make reasonable efforts to keep Interactive Editions available and functioning. Access may occasionally be interrupted by maintenance, updates, technical faults, or circumstances beyond our reasonable control. We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free access and will take reasonable steps to restore service when problems arise. Temporary interruptions do not by themselves constitute permanent discontinuation or trigger our additional first-year closure refund. Nothing in this provision limits rights or remedies that applicable law does not allow us to exclude, including those relating to serious or prolonged failures to provide purchased access.

Additional first-year closure protection

If Lingualism permanently discontinues your purchased Interactive Edition access within its first 12 months, we will refund the unused portion of the amount paid for that access. This applies both when an individual purchased edition is withdrawn and when the learning platform closes.

The protection period starts when your paid access is first made available for use, rather than when you first choose to sign in. If access is never supplied, this prorated promise does not reduce your rights concerning non-supply.

The refund is calculated daily: the number of unused days remaining between the final access date and the first anniversary of the start date, divided by the total number of days in that 12-month period, multiplied by the amount actually paid for the Interactive Edition after discounts. Closure approximately six months into the period would therefore result in a refund of approximately 50% of that amount.

Bundle purchases and discounts

For a bundle, this additional refund is calculated using the amount allocated to Interactive Edition access and disclosed before purchase. The allocation is recorded with your order and reflects the amount actually charged after any applicable discounts. It does not limit any refund or remedy required by law for the bundle or its components.

For example, if a $30 bundle is disclosed before purchase as $25 for Interactive Edition access and a $5 PDF add-on, the additional closure refund is based on the $25 access amount. If exactly half of the first-year period remains, that refund is $12.50. You may keep using the downloaded PDF under its personal-use license. The exact refund is calculated daily.

An additional order-level coupon or discount reduces the bundle’s disclosed component amounts proportionately. For example, a 10% discount on that $30 bundle reduces the Interactive Edition amount to $22.50 and the PDF amount to $4.50. If exactly half the protection period remains, the additional access refund is $11.25. The same proportional reduction applies to the disclosed component amounts in eligible bundles containing Anki flashcards or other add-ons.

We use the amounts recorded for your purchase, not later standalone or list prices. Any refundable taxes are handled as required by applicable law.

After the first year

After the first 12 months, this additional closure-refund promise ends. This does not mean your access expires after a year: it continues for as long as Lingualism makes the purchased edition available, subject to the Terms of Service.

Your statutory rights and other contractual remedies remain unaffected.

Closure notices and refund timing

If we plan to permanently discontinue purchased access, we will normally give at least 30 days’ advance notice by email and on the learning platform. The notice will identify the affected edition, the reason, the final access date, and the applicable refund arrangements. If legal or urgent security circumstances prevent that notice, we will give as much notice as reasonably possible. Any longer notice required by law still applies.

We will identify eligible purchases and initiate the additional first-year closure refunds without requiring customers to submit a claim, within 14 days after purchased access ends, or sooner if applicable law requires. If we need information to complete a refund, we will contact you. If you believe an eligible purchase has been missed, please contact us. The time taken for a payment provider to show a refund in your account may vary.

Refund payment method

Refunds will normally be returned using the original payment method. We may offer store credit as an alternative, but you are not required to accept it. If the original payment method cannot receive the refund, we will arrange another suitable method with you, in accordance with applicable law. We do not charge a fee for issuing a refund.

Contact us and purchases from other retailers

Email contact@lingualism.com with your order number or other proof of purchase, the affected product, and a description of the problem. Never send passwords, sign-in codes, or full payment details.

If you purchased a paperback or another product through Amazon or another retailer, contact that retailer and refer to its return and refund policies, subject to your legal rights.
