Detailed Overview
If you have enjoyed the authentic approach of the first volume, Arabic Voices 2 provides even more materials of interest to broaden your linguistic and cultural horizons. Rather than simply increasing difficulty, this volume focuses on expanding the range of voices and subjects you encounter, allowing you to hear native speakers from seven different regions explain their world in their own words.
Exploring the Interior Logic of Arabic
The methodology remains consistent with the first book, emphasizing self-discovery and disciplined listening. By engaging with the audio first, you learn to identify regional variations, such as the Kuwaiti practice of pronouncing “kaf” as a “ch” sound or the Tunisian use of French loanwords. The side-by-side literal translations are designed to reveal the internal logic of Arabic sentence structures, helping you internalize how native speakers structure their thoughts rather than just memorizing static definitions.
Topics Covered in Book 2
- Identity and Social Reality: Lebanese Identity, Arabs in Israel, Poverty in Yemen, and Education.
- Daily Habits and Lifestyle: Daily Routines, Smoking, Cats and Dogs, and Technology.
- History and Culture: The Curse of the Pharaohs, Hijab, Traffic Accidents, and Clothing in Morocco.
- Personal Reflections: Expanded Childhood Memories and further insights into the Arabic Language and University life.
Free Supplementary Video Lessons
Just like the first volume, Arabic Voices 2 includes access to free supplementary video lessons. Teacher Mostafa Ahmed guides you through the MSA segments, offering deep dives into grammar, vocabulary, and common speaker slips. These videos are designed for active learning with subtitles and full transcripts available at: https://resources.lingualism.com/tag/arabic-voices/.
Professional Standing
This series is a trusted resource in the field, used by government agencies and universities, and reviewed favorably in Al-ʿArabiyya: Journal of the American Association of Teachers of Arabic. For those who wish to focus on a single region, the same proven methodology is available in our dedicated books for Egyptian, Lebanese, Syrian, and Palestinian.

Customer Reviews
I don't know how and for what purpose other people use this material, but it is an extremely useful tool for me. I work with people. I don't use Arabic every week. When I go to work, I may know that I have to communicate in Arabic that day, but I don't yet know what dialect the client speaks. I listen to this material over and over again while driving, washing dishes, exercising etc. and my speech understanding is improving. There must be some neurophysiological explanation for this, I don't know.
Very good resource. The books contains lot of authentic listening and reading practice.
I have been working through this book and, like its predecessor (Arabic Voices 1), it is so far an excellent resource. The recordings are solid in quality, the topics are diverse and interesting, and the overall structure of each chapter is very conducive for self-study.
Fantastic resource, this is the first of it's kind providing recordings and transcriptions of real people talking about daily life and themselves in their native accent. There isn't anything like this available anywhere else. The usual materials provided by other resources are basic and in MSA. This is not useful to anybody. In this book you will hear real people talking how they normally talk to other Arabs. I highly recommend this product for all levels of Arabic students working on any dialect. It is a real eye opener for me as there is nothing like this out there. Please keep up the good work Lingualism!! I have waited years for resources like this. At a great price and brilliant format!
