This story was chosen because it is familiar to Western audiences; knowing the plot and characters allows learners to focus less on what happens in the story and more on the language itself.

• The story is divided into eight chapters of similar, manageable length for learners.
• Each chapter features: (1) the fully voweled Arabic text, (2) vocabulary lists, and (3) English translations.
• When the name of a character or place appears for the first time, it is shown in bold.
• Words and phrases included in the vocabulary section (glossary) are underlined in the text with a subtle dotted line. They are organized by order of appearance and grouped by page number.
• Nouns and adjectives are listed in their singular forms, with irregular plurals shown in parentheses.
