Overview
Six native speakers from different regions of Syria each contributed six audio essays on various topics, making up the thirty-six segments of the book. The speakers were recorded speaking spontaneously and naturally, without prepared scripts. Each segment was then transcribed in Arabic script and translated into English. Studying these texts offers learners a unique chance to explore the patterns, usage, and subtleties of modern spoken Syrian Arabic.

Like any other product from lingualism, I absolutely love it. Amazing stories from six people who fled the war, talking in native speech about their experiences. Learning new vocabulary in context of understanding every person's story makes it much more powerful. lingualism's products are a treasure trove for learning the Arabic language and Arabic dialects.
This is an excellent resource for so many reasons. It is wonderful for training your ear to listen to natural (and sometimes rapid) speech. It is also a great resource for learning the differences between Syrian Arabic and, say, Lebanese Arabic. You will learn to adjust your ear to the way things are pronounced in Syria. Lastly, the stories are really poignant and give us a better idea about the lives and experiences of people affected by the Syrian war.

I love everything about this book! Very interesting and engaging topics, I have noticed a huge improvement in my vocabulary. I am forever grateful to Lingualism Team and Matthew for making learning Arabic dialects much easier :-) If you are around B1-B2 level honesty you need this book in your life!
